Included with every domain
There is no specific procedure related to the registration of a domain name.
.MUSIC domain names are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis.
Restrictions / Allocation Rules:
The .MUSIC is reserved to the members of the Music Industry Community.
The holder will have to confirm its eligibility and its identity after the registration of the domain name on id.music. The domain name will be activated and resolving once the verification is done.
Below the individuals or legal entities able to register a .MUSIC:
- Music Intellectual Property (Documents needed), or
- Members of a Music Community Member Organizations (MCMO) (Documents needed), or
- Musicians, Artists/Bands and Creators (Documents needed), or
- Music Based Business, Corporation and Organization (Documents needed), or
- Consultants, Agents, Managers or Professionals Working on behalf of previous classes (Documents needed), or
- Established businesses that wish to use music as part of their future business, marketing, promotional activities, or
- Aspiring Musicians, Artists/Bands and Creators
- Only during Sunrise: TMCH Trademark holders having a valid Signed Mark Data file
How the different phases work:
At the end of the Music Community Phase:
- If single application, the applicant will receive a token to finalise the domain registration with Netim,
- If multiple applications have been made, the applicants will be invited to a private auction. In case of winning the auction, the applicant will be granted with a token to finalise the domain registration with Netim.
In order to transfer your domain name to Netim, you must disable transfer protections and obtain the authorisation code from your current Registrar.
The transfer may take several days.
When the transfer is finalised, a year is added to the expiry date of the domain name.
To change the holder, you must first go through an authentication process.
To that end, validation emails will be sent to both current and future domain holders.
After a period of 5 days, the request will be cancelled.
The domain expiration date is not affected by the transfer process.
The .music extension does not support special characters.
