Registration:
There are no special conditions for registering .CAT domain names. If the domain name is still available, you can register it without any restrictions.
However the .CAT domain name is an extension reserved for the catalan community.
This Community consists of those who use the Catalan language for their online communications, and/or promote the different aspects of Catalan culture online, and/or want to specifically address their online communications to that Community.
If your website is not (at least partially) in Catalan, it needs to be related to the Catalan culture, language or community. If you don’t have any content, please note that NETIM will show a parking page in catalan by defaut.
Further information with the registration policy and the .CAT charter in force at the registry.
Renewal:
A renewal extends the domain name from one to 9 years. Renewal procedure must be carried out before the domain's expiration date, otherwise the domain will switch to quarantine status for 30 days before being removed. During this status, the domain is no longer active but can still be restored.

Change of owner:
The procedure is carried out manually using paper forms and allows the owner to sell a domain name to a third party. The seller and the buyer have to fill a form and send it back to NETIM. Then our service will check manually the request before complete the ownership transfer.
