Procedure for transferring .FR domain names
When you request a transfer for your .FR domain name to NETIM, the procedure below is followed. After transfer, we become the registrar of your domain name.
Transfer procedure
Requirements:
To initiate the transfer of a .FR / .RE / .PM / .TF / .YT / .WF domain name, you will be asked to provide an authorization code (AuthID). You can obtain it from your current domain name's registrar.
In order to proceed with the transfer, the current registrar must accept the transfer. So you must notify the current registrar of your wish to change the registrar to "NETIM". Some registrars, like NETIM, have implemented a protection against transfers to approve or reject automatically the requests. In this case, you must ensure that this protection is disabled.
Different stages:
Once your order has been confirmed, we will send a request for the transfer of your domain name to the .FR registry with the autorization code:
- In the event of acceptance, the transfer is initiated
- In the event of refusal, the transfer is cancelled.
Then the registry will ask for the current registrar to accept the request:
- In the event of acceptance within 15 days, the transfer is immediatly carried out.
- If no reply is received at end of the initial 15-days period, the transfer is carried out.
- In the event of refusal within 15 days, the initial time-frame is brought to six weeks, during which time the registrar still has the right to agree or ask a manual approval by the registry.
Once the transfer has been finalised, the domain name's expiration date is extended for a one year period starting from the date of the end of transfer. For example, if the domain expires on the 2012-12-15 and if the transfer is carried out on the 2012-11-30 the new expiration date will then be the 2013-11-30.
Important information
- Deadline for transfer: The day before expiration of the domain name
- Best date for transfer: Not less than 2 weeks before expiration of the domain name
