The .XXX launching will be staggered in different steps :


Sunrise A : From the 7th September to the 28th October 2011

Applicants must be part of the adult industry and match one of the cases below:

- Owning an active registered trademark
The trademark must be a trade or service mark issued prior to the 1st of September 2011 and in use in Eligible Commerce by the Applicant. The requested domain name must correspond to the entire text of a textual registered trademark, or correspond to the complete textual component of a graphical or compound registered trademark

- Owning a domain name in another TLD
The requested domain name must be identical to the already registered domain name in any IANA-recognized TLD
The registered domain name must be created on or before February 1st, 2010


Sunrise B: From the 7th September to the 28th of October 2011

Applicants must not be part of the adult industry and own an active registered trademark:

The trademark must be a trade or service mark issued prior to the 1rst of September 2011 and in use in Eligible Commerce by the Applicant. The requested domain name must be relevant to the entire text of a textual registered trademark, or be relevant to the complete textual component of a graphical or compound registered trademark

If allocated, the requested domain name must resolve to a standard informational page reflecting the status of the name as reserved (we provide by default this service)


Landrush : From the 8th to the 25th of November 2011

Landrush is a limited-time opportunity for those who don’t qualify for Sunrise A but want to secure a valued .XXX domain name and avoid first come, first served General Availability risks.

Applicants must be part of the adult industry but there are no qualification requirements


General availability: From the 6th of December 2011

Applicants must be part of the adult industry but there are no qualification requirements.

Applicants who are not part of the adult industry can register a .XXX domain in order to protect their name or brand, however this domain name will not be functionnal.

The .XXX launch agenda has been announced by ICM registry.

3 different periods will caracterize this launching :


1) Sunrise : from the 7th of September till the 6th of October : dedicated to applicants within and outside of the sponsored community


Sunrise A : Applicants will be within the sponsored community. Websites must be active.
Sunrise B : Applicants awill be outside the sponsored community. They want to protect their brand, and cope with cybersquatting. Those domain names must be registered before February 2012.

Nevertheless, members of the community will have priority.

2) Landrush : From the 24th of October till the 2nd of November : 10 days
Landrush is reserved to members of the sponsored community.


3) Official launching : 6th of December
Domain names of members of the sponsored community will also be active.


ICM registry will provide malware scanning for all .XXX domain names for free and has a partnership with one of the largest security company in the world. Indeed, websites will daily be scanned for malware
