As an accredited registrar, NETIM will be accepting Sunrise period registration/ reservation request for .XXX domain names from the 7th of September until the 28th of October.

.XXX is a new extension dedicated to the adult industry companies.

This very expected extension will revolutionize the domain name sphere. Indeed, you may be interested to get your own .XXX extension, to protect your brand from cybersquatting. You also may belong to the adult industry and have the lust to highlight your activity.

SUNRISE A PERIOD:

Applicants must be part of the adult industry and match one of the cases below:

Owning an active registered trademark (Sunrise AT)

The trademark must be a trade or a service mark issued prior to 1rst of September 2011 and in use in Eligible Commerce by the Applicant.

The requested domain names must correspond to the entire text of a textual registered trademark, or correspond to the complete textual component of a graphical or compound registered trademark

Owning the domain name in another TLD (Sunrise AD)

The requested domain name must be identical to the already registered domain name in any IANA-recognized TLD

The registered domain name must have been created on or before February 1rst, 2010

Allocation: A domain name applied by only one qualified applicant under Sunrise A will be automatically allocated to this applicant.

In the event that there is more than one qualified applicant under Sunrise A, the domain name will be auctioned among all qualified Sunrise A applicants.

If both Sunrise A and Sunrise B applicants want the same domain name, priority will be given to the Sunrise A applicant to register the domain name.

SUNRISE B PERIOD:

Applicants must not be part of the adult industry and own an active registered trademark:

The trademark must be a trade or service mark issued prior to 1 Sept. 2011 and in use in Eligible Commerce by the Applicant.

The requested domain name must correspond to the entire text of a textual registered trademark, or correspond to the complete textual component of a graphical or compound registered trademark

If allocated, the requested domain name must resolve to a standard informational page reflecting the status of the name as reserved (we provide by default this service)

Applications must be received 48 hours before the end of the period.

About domain names registered during Sunrise B

A domain name allocated during this sunrise period will not be a registered domain name. It will be reserved by the registry in order to block the name.

As this kind of domain is not registered, there is no renewal nor ownership. The domain will be removed from available domain names.

The publicly available WHOIS information for all reserved names will state the Registry and not any particular Sunrise B Applicant.

NEXT PERIODS:

.XXX Landrush will begin on the 8th of November and finish on the 25th of November. You will have to wait till the 6th of December to access to the general availability.

.xxx extension has been polemical for many years : it had already been rejected in 2005 by ICANN. This extension is mainly dedicated to pornographic – adult entertainment would be more politically correct – websites, but is also a serious means to fight against cyber squatting.

The debate has been revived last year, and ICANN has finally given its go ahead. Managed by ICM registry, this extension will also be submitted to the IFFOR rules (International Foundation For Oline Responsability), even if ICM will remain independant from this non-profit foundation. IFFOR is only tasked to settle policies concerning .xxx domain names.

But the debate is still in the headlines : some countries like India have already declared that they would not accept this extension, and anti .xxx claim that excesses could rapidly appear : pedo pornography and fraudulence are risks involved.

ICANN accredited registrars will soon (during the summer) be able to sell this extension.
