Procedure for transferring .ES domain name

When you request a transfer for your .ES domain name towards NETIM, the procedure below is followed. After transfer, we become the new registrar of your domain name. More information on .ES domain names.

The transfer is free of charge because this operation doesn't include a domain name renewal. You will benefit from all our services until the expiration of the domain name, when you will have to renew with NETIM.


Requirements
In order to proceed with a transfer, the domain name’s owner must confirm the operation on the registry's website

Different stages
Once your order has been confirmed, the owner must follow the following steps:

Once your order has been confirmed, we will send a request for the transfer of your domain name to the registry. The latter will contact the owner to notify the request by email.

Within the next 10 days, the owner must connect to the registrant's website at the following URL: https://www.nic.es/esnic/jsp/Login_UR.jsp

If you don't have any login, you have to retreive the current ID and the password:

  • You have to perform a whois lookup on the registry's website http://www.nic.es
    section "busca tu dominio" in order to retreive the owner's ID.
  • Then on the previous page, click onto "Recuperar contraseña" and enter your ID,
    you will receive the password by email.

Caution: if your current provider has specified his email address for the owner, you will never receive the login. In this case, you have to request to the current registrar the following step


Once connected into the registrant's website, enter the section "Solicitudes > Lista de solicitudes" in the left menu, search the domain name with the status "PENDPCA".


Then click on the corresponding reference (First column). At the bottom of the page, click on "Realizar Transferencia de Domino". Then the transfer will be performed in few hours.


You can transfer your domain whenever you want, no need to wait for the expiration in order to complete the domain transfer.

The transfer can be carried out within 24 hours if the owner's confirmation is given quickly.

   Important information

  • Deadline for transfer: the day before expiration of the domain name
  • Ideal date for transfer: 1 week before expiration of the domain name
  • After the transfer: the domain name's expiration date will not be changed. You will have to renew the domain with NETIM before its expiration date
  • The current registrar for your domain name may not oppose the transfer to NETIM, given that only the owner has the right to approve the transfer. Nevertheless, if the registrar has specified his own email address for the owner, you have to request to him the approval of the transfer.
