Included with every domain
There is no specific procedure related to the registration of a domain name.
.NYC domain names are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis.
Restrictions / Allocation Rules:
The City of New York desires to have only those individuals or entities having a substantive and lawful connection to the City be permitted to register for .nyc domain names.
A natural person whose primary place of domicile is a valid physical address in the City of New York; Or
An entity or organization that has a physical street address in the City of New York.
The existence of a P.O. Box address shall not qualify for purposes of meeting the Eligibility criteria.
Registrants must agree, that they are in compliance with all relevant Federal, New York State and New York City laws, including the tax requirements for conducting business via the Internet (currently at www.nyc.gov/finance).
Registrants must remain in compliance with the applicable eligibility criteria for the entire period of such domain name’s registration by the registrant.
Registrants may not license, sub-delegate or otherwise transfer .nyc domain names to third parties that otherwise fail to meet the requirements of this Nexus Policy.
In order to transfer your domain name to Netim, you must disable transfer protections and obtain the authorisation code from your current Registrar.
The transfer may take several days.
When the transfer is finalised, a year is added to the expiry date of the domain name.
To change the holder, you must first go through an authentication process.
To that end, validation emails will be sent to both current and future domain holders.
After a period of 5 days, the request will be cancelled.
The domain expiration date is not affected by the transfer process.
The .nyc extension does not support special characters.
Netim is an accredited registrar
By choosing an accredited Registrar, you avoid middlemen which in turn gives you access to lower prices and makes domain registration, as well as other operations, quicker.
